In the second half of the coming season the four Wellington Centre cycling clubs will again be holding an inter-club series of handicap road races.
Riders from PNP, Wellington Veterans, Kapiti and Masterton clubs are invited to compete and earn series points for their respective clubs.
The first of these races takes place this coming Sunday, 7 February and will be hosted by Athletics Masterton with details as follows;
Race Headquarters are at the clubrooms at the Colin Pugh Sports Bowl, off Blair Street. To get there, take the first right on Te Ore Ore Road (which takes you to Riversdale / Castlepoint) onto Blair Street and then turn a hard right again to the Sports Bowl.
Entries will be taken up until 9.40am on the day and racing will start at 10.00am. No entries will be taken on the start line so please get to the clubrooms early.
Race entry is $5.00
The race will start on Bideford Rd (instructions will be available at the clubrooms) and head to Alfredton and returning via Dreyers Rock Road to finish on Rangitumau Rd. This is a fast flat course of 80k with one climb over Dreyers Rock to sort out your legs. There is a 7k warm down ride back to town.
There will be refreshments back at the clubrooms after the race.
Handicaps
This is a handicap series so each rider is put into a group of similar ability riders. Your handicap will be taken from previous results if available. If you haven't raced before the following guide can be used;
1st Group - Limit - New Rider to Racing, likely to have done some fun rides in the past
2nd Group - Break 4 - Some race experience, use to riding in a bunch, guide Taupo Time 5hrs +
3rd Group - Break 3 - Couple of years racing, confident in race bunch, guide Taupo Time under 5hrs
4th Group - Break 2 - Experienced A/B Grade Rider, Taupo Time under 4hr 45m
5th Group - Break - Experienced A/B Grade Rider, Taupo Time under 4hr 30m
6th Group - Scratch - Experienced A Grade Rider, Taupo Time under 4hr 15m
1st Group - Limit - New Rider to Racing, likely to have done some fun rides in the past

Series Competition
Throughout the series, points will be awarded for men and women and accumulated towards an overall series men and women's title.
Only financial members of PNP, WVCC, Kapiti or Masterton cycling clubs are eligible for series points or prizemoney.
Prizemoney will be confirmed during the series based on entry numbers.

Entry and Registration
Race Entry Fee will be $5 for all riders.
Entry will be on the day, from one hour prior to the start of the first race, and will close 20mins before the start of the first race. Please plan on being early to help the registration process so the race can start on time.
Series Prizegiving will be after the final race in the series at a venue to be confirmed.
