Health & Safety Update

The MTB Committee have been reviewing the Health & Safety Policies and Plans for running our MTB Events.  One aspect to arise is that people need to be aware of our Policies and Plans, including our Emergency Response plan and Risk Mitigation plan. Links to these documents are below.  Site-specific risks will be identified in each Event Manual. Any feedback on these is welcome. Please feel free to email: mtbsubcommittee@pnp.org.nz or call any of the MTB committee members.

Trail building and track maintenance

The Wellington region is blessed with an abundance of great trails from Grade 1 to 6.

Some are funded by our wonderful Councils and we thank them for continued funding, guidance and support.

Clubs and Councils regularly meet to discuss trail plans. Priorities at the moment are Grade 1 and 2 trails for recreation, learners & children. PNP makes a donation to the trail building group associated with each location we race at – it's based on a set amount per/rider per/event.

Most trails are built by hand and maintained by volunteers like you and me who love to ride them. We encourage you to contribute to the labour force required, and give a little back.

Trail building is terrific fun in a gang and very rewarding. You will be fed and watered and good stories will be told. There are plenty of opportunities to help out. No experience needed and tools are provided.

Unofficial trail building is frowned upon, please check with your local club or council if you have a good plan for a trail.
