Course description

Distance per lap = 8.5km
Altitude gained per lap = 410m

All Classes

Start with a clockwise lap of the Velodrome
Head north through the carpark
Left up steep rocky climb
Cross Alexandra road saddle
Turn right and continue on track and do not use tarseal as you climb
to the high point of the course, Mt Vic summit
Keep heading north down hill
Turn acute left & descend steps
Stay left at the next intersection
Up and down little knob
SHORT COURSE
          Turn hard right
          Go down fast grassy slope sweeping left getting air on bump
          Into bush & turn right down rooty slope
          Go to point 1)
LONG COURSE
          Traverse straight ahead on flat
          Drop down to the right on to a short single track
          Sharp right & down to the 4WD track
          Down 4WD track
          Right at the next intersection heading downhill
          Veer right at the next Y intersection
          Climb up steep hill under the Macrocarpa trees
          Take very steep rooty right turn
          Up to the top of the open grass field & turn left
          Descend 30m
          New section in red
          Turn right down single track
          Turn left at T
          Down hill, then acute right
          Left down steep ski slope
                    If you take the Chicken route straight ahead, then acute left
                    You must Give Way at ski slope
          Down 2 more fast dippers
          Left & climb narrow track to open area
          Straight ahead then ride narrow single track with city view on right
          Down & up to the right
          Now you rejoin the old course
1) Take singletrack on your right down hill
Veer left to avoid the wet hole at the bottom (new track)
Drop down chute into Charles Plimmer Park
Ride across the park to the south and on to the main track
Turn acute left up the dovetail.
Take the first right and keep climbing to the south
Turn sharp right down hill which will take you
to the bottom of the Dovetail where you were before.
Turn sharp left
Head south climbing the main 4WD track
Turn right at top just before Alexandra road tarseal
Ride 50m of singletrack
At the first Y junction
SHORT COURSE
          Veer left to Alexandra Park on new track
LONG COURSE
          Veer right to Alexandra Park on old track
At Alexandra Park
SHORT COURSE
          Turn left, cross field and up bank
          Turn right & veer left down easy gravel track & go to point 2)
LONG COURSE
          Turn right down Gutbuster
          First turn left along flat single track
          Acute left & uphill walk
          Just past steep part turn right onto small single track
          Ride back down to Alexandra Park
          Skirt around the right hand edge of park to far north east corner
          Turn right up bank & head south on gravel track for 5m
          Turn right between rocks up ridge
          Left around water tower roof
          Very steep downhill with turns
2) Exit outside Chest Hospital
Cross the tarseal turnaround
Jump kerb heading south
Fly around to Alexandra Rd crossing
Give Way crossing road
Through the wooden posts
Right on to the gravel track
First left downhill
Right on the sealed uphill walkway
Stay to left of posts on the grass
Go south downhill before sweeping left on berm
Full speed down and up the big dipper
Thru trees & cross the field
Veer right
Take the first sharp left uphill
Right at the T intersection
Take another uphill left
Ride back into the east side of the Velodrome
Repeat Velodrome circuit & do next lap.

Class A: Pro-Elite Men
           3 LONG laps
Class B: U23 Men, Senior Men, Master 1 Men and Master 2 Men
           2 LONG laps, followed by 1 SHORT lap
Class C: Under 23 Women, Under 19 Men, Senior Women and Master 3 Men
           1 LONG lap followed by 2 SHORT laps
Class D: Master Women, Rocket Bikes Men, Rocket Bikes Women, U15 Boys and U19 Girls
           2 SHORT laps
