bicycle / PNP MTB XC SERIES 2010
The PNP Cycling Club is into its 7th year of running their popular spring Mountain Bike Cross Country 5 round Series, beginning Sunday Aug 29th 2010 at Makara Peak MTB Park, Karori, Wellington.
bicycle.co.nz is the new Gold Sponsor for the Series and are supplying $1,000 of spot prizes at every round plus a $4,200 Santa Cruz Nickel in your size.
There are 15 different classes that cater for all levels of ability and fitness.
Entry level riders are encouraged to take part in the “Recreation” Men’s and Women’s grade. They will ride the easiest trails available (course marked D) and the winner will take about 1 hour.
The next level up is “bicycle Enduro” (course marked C). This class is for male riders 20 to 49 years old who are above Recreation level but not up to the full distance of Senior Men and Master 1 or 2 Men. Last year the Enduro class was the most popular.
Age grade classes run from Under 13 right through to Master 3 50+, and Elite Men (courses marked A, B and C).
Entry fees are $20 to $30 per race depending on your age and PNP Club membership.
$5 of your entry fee is passed to the land managers for track building/maintenance.
Those who pay for all races before or on Aug 29th get 1 race free and get 10 entries into the draw for the Santa Cruz Nickel. Otherwise you get 1 entry in the draw for every race you enter. The Santa Cruz Nickel winner will be drawn at the final on Nov 14th and you must be present to collect.
There is prize giving at every round with medals from PNP and spot prizes from bicycle. At the final we also present series trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd except Recreation. Perpetual Series Cups are presented to 1st Elite Man and 1st Senior Woman. The best 4 results of the 5 round bicycle Series will determine your final Series placing.
College riders' points are accumulated over the bicycle Series for their College. The highest scoring College over 5 rounds wins the "PNP College Shield".
